How to create a Wix Website

Creating a website has never been easier! Follow the following steps to create a Wix website for your business or your brand.

Step 1: Google it

Go to your google search and write Wix, immediately a drop-down list appears with the available choices select Wix website.

Click on Wix.com

Step 2: Sign up

The site opens with the home page, then click on Get Started button.

Then the login page appears, you’ve multiple choices to get an account in Wix.com: 

• • Continue with Facebook, then you will use your Facebook account details and get your website connected to your Facebook.
  • Continue with Google, then you will use your google account details and get your website connected to your Gmail and other Google stuff.
  • Continue with Apple, then you will use your Apple account details and get your website connected to your Apple and other stuff.

• Do not have an account? Sign Up, then you must fill in a form and create an independent account.

Let us fill in this form together.

1. Write down an active email address you want to get confirmation and notifications via, be sure that you know its details and you use it regularly.
2. Re-type your email address correctly.
3. Write a password, it should be strong enough, so that please use special characters, uppercase letters, and numbers.
4. Retype the password typically.
5. Press Sign up.

Congratulations! You have a Wix account now 😊

Let me tell you a secret, I prefer creating accounts connected to my Gmail so as google will help to restore everything 😊.

Step 3: Start Design Process:

Now, we are moving to the next step, answer some questions that will help the platform creates your website.

Press Let’s Do it button.

The first question is for whom you are creating this site, either for yourself, for a client, for your company or for someone else.

I will go with the first option, myself.

The second question is about the purpose of the website, is it a business website? Is it a blog? Will it display certain events? Is it an online store? For beauty and wellness? Is it a photography website? To download music from it? Is it your portfolio? For fitness? Is it a designer website? To display restaurant & food? For something else?

It will be for business, no doubt.

3rd question is about your previous experience building websites. Oops! I’ve no previous experience, so what? no problem just tell them, me neither have no previous experience, that’s ok 😊

Now, all questions ended and we will start the big show.

You’ve 2 choices to go with:

• Either to let Wix ADI create the website for you. All you need is to answer some questions to let the job done.
• Or to create it yourself using the editor, starting from a template.

Let us go with the 1st option, first click on Start Now button.

In this step you will select the type of your business website, I’ll go with the marketing Agency choice. Next button is active now, click it to go to the next step.

Now you must select the items that you need to be added to your website, for me as a marketing agency I will need:

• A chat tool to live chat with the customers.
• A booking tool so that customers can take online appointments.
• A subscribe form so that I can create my customer list.
• A blog to generate more reach to my site.
• Events page, so that let them stay tuned.
• And finally, a pricing plan page, it’s all about selling at the end.

Any other suggestions? Contact us with yours. 

Click next button to go to the next step.

In this step you’ve to write your business name if it exists, or the name you want for this website. Write it down then click on Next button.

This step assumes that you have an online presence that you may use to import text and images to your website. If you’ve you can use it, if not just click on Next button and let us proceed.

Now you will import your data manually, starting with your logo, it should exist on your pc. Note that the email you have created your account with is already written. 

Then you will add your business real address, your phone number, your fax number if you have, links to your social networks (highly recommended).

Do not forget to click Next when you finish editing your information.

Select the color theme you want for the website

In this step you need to select the color theme in which your website will be shown, it should be professional to reflect your business. Anyway, it is up to you.

After you choose the theme Continue button is active, click on it to proceed.

You may get a color palette out from your logo

In this step, you can get a color palette that fits your logo, which is really professional. Click on Create Palette button to generate yours.

Oh, dear! Wix ADI generated the suitable colors indeed, Click on the Use these Colors button to use them in the rest of your website.

Select your home page

In this step, you are going to select the design you prefer for your website’s home page. For me, I prefer the one with a “welcome” message in the middle.

Adding more pages to your website

Here you are going to add more pages to your site such as About us (to let your customers know more about you), Contact us (to help your customers contact you or visit your real-life business address), Projects …etc.

Click on Edit Site, the Wix Adi will ad all the answers and the pages you’ve provided to make your website ready.

Your site is ready. You may publish it.

Now your site is ready, and at the final preview before you publish it, take a look, make the necessary changes you need in the data and the design.

To edit any part in the page, all you have to do is to point it, then you’ll get all options to edit as follows:

Start editing the site.

Once you click on Edit you go to the edit format which you can change the design of this section only or the design as a whole.

Editing header section.

To start editing the heading section, click on the Section Design button, you will get several designs to this part of the site so that you may select the new arrangement you prefer, as follows:

As shown above, there is a “SITE HEADER DESIGN” panel that is showing the current design of the header section and a preview panel.

Scroll down in the “SITE HEADER DESIGN” panel and select the design you prefer for your home page header, for me I prefer a side menu and a fixed header, but remember it’s all up to you and your requirements.

If you need some more additional options like background color in the header section just point to Customize Section Design a popup menu appears that enables you to change the current background color to any of the available colors (according to your color palette), just select it and then, color changes.

Now you can click 🡨Backlink to go back to the main edit panel.

Editing the welcome section

Don’t you like the welcome section image and text style? Frankly, me too, so in the design preview let’s point to the section we want to edit and then click on the Edit button.

1st thing I am going to change is the welcome message itself, I’ll change the style as well. So, go to the title and start typing.

You may change the style by clicking on “B” for bold text, “I ” for italic style, and “U” to underline text. An autosave note will prompt telling you that each style you add will be automatically saved to the design.

To change the main image, we click on Replace button, then “Organize Your Image” dialog box will open, select the image you want from it or add yours from Add More button, I’ll add mine.

When you click on Add More button, a new dialog box pops up with the name “Choose Image” from which you may add upload media to the site or select one of the ready uploaded images.

Also, You can use images from Shutterstock if you have an account there, noting that it’s for paid images and vectors, or from Unsplash which provides free images. Both options are available at the end of the left-hand side list beneath Recommended.

Uploading Image.

If you decided to upload an image you have the chance to use one from your social media platforms like Facebook / Instagram/ Flickr / Dribble or from your cloud storage like Gdrive or Dropbox or even a link to the image, plus to the ability to upload from your hard drive for sure 😊.

The welcome section is ready.

Now welcome section is ready, and I want to publish the site. I will click on Publish button. Then I will proceed to the Domain step. It is a very important step as here you should configure how people will reach your site.

Select website domain.

Now you’ve 2 options, a free Wix domain & a paid domain you buy from domain sellers like Godaddy.

In the free domain, you will replace the word “website” with the name you want, your business name for example. Then click on Publish & Continue button.

Congratulations, You have a website now.

Congratulations, you have a Wix website now. With URL of your choosing.

Your Published website is ready!
